Hello, my name is _____ and I’m calling to voice my support of SB-678- the Unaccompanied Women Experiencing Homelessness Act of 2021.  According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 2020 Homeless Assessment Report to Congress, roughly 580,000 people experienced homelessness in the United States on a given night, with 171,575 people experiencing homelessness as part of a family with at least one adult and one child under the age of 18.  This accounts for 30% of the total homeless population. Six in 10 people in families were women. California accounted for 15 percent of people in families experiencing homelessness in the U.S. We can and must do better, and SB 678 is a critical step in ensuring that we do.
