Les Misérables - Educational Resources

Lesson one will encourage students in high school English Language Arts, French, or European History focusing on the French Revolution, and/or film classes, who have read the novel Les Misérables* to compare the novel and the film’s central themes of social inequality, the morality of crime and criminal justice, and the factors that motivate human beings to action, in order to shed light on whether and how the film represents them in our modern world. Lesson two can be incorporated into High School English Language Arts, French, and Media Studies/Film Courses. See the full listing of standards at the end of the lesson.
